Classroom Projectors vs Conference Room Projectors

When it comes to projection technology, both classroom projectors and conference room projectors are used to display information on a larger scale. But how do they differ and which one is the right choice for your needs? Let’s compare and contrast the two.

Classroom Projectors

Classroom projectors are designed for educational settings and typically have a brightness rating of 2,000 to 3,000 lumens. They are used to display materials such as slides, documents, and videos to a large group of students. Classroom projectors can be mounted on the ceiling or placed on a desk, making them portable.

The resolution of classroom projectors is also improving over time. In 2019, the average resolution was 1280 x 800, but it is increasing every year. This feature particularly makes the projectors ideal for small classrooms.

Conference Room Projectors

On the other hand, Conference room projectors are designed for boardroom settings and typically have a brightness rating of 4,500 to 10,000 lumens, with some that are rated even higher. These projectors are used to display presentations, videos, and other multimedia content to a large group of people, for example, during meetings and conferences.

Conference room projectors offer high resolution, typically full HD with a resolution of 1920x1080 or higher, and some even offer 4K resolution, enabling the display of finer details. Additionally, they often have multiple inputs so that users can switch between laptops or other devices during presentations or meetings.

Comparison

The comparison puts a spotlight on the features of each projector. Classroom projectors’ lower brightness offers a smoother and friendlier experience for more intimate lessons, allowing students to focus on material and understanding, whereas higher brightness of conference room projectors offers a brighter and better experience, especially if daylight is a concern. Meanwhile, conference room projectors maximize their image sharpness due to their higher resolution.

While both types of projectors can be used interchangeably, choosing the right one depends on your needs. If you are looking for a projector for educational purposes in smaller groups, a classroom projector would be a more cost-effective option. But if you want to host large meetings and conferences with a lot of multimedia content, a conference room projector would be more suitable.
